Why does it take me 12 tries to log in?

Whenever I try to log in to this forum, it takes me 12 tries. It will redirect me back to the log in page 11 times before finally logging in.

Is this a problem with the forum or with my computer?

Are you going to www.computerforum.com or computerforum.com? I don't remember the difference, but the site doesn't work correctly if you don't add www to the beginning of the web address.

If you don't include the www in the front of the URL it will forget that you're logged in. Once you load up a thread it will show you logged in in the top right and work fine. This used to happen to me.

This is strange. What is the difference? Shouldn't it be the same "A"Record from ICANN?

A records don't come from ICANN, although based on your other threads I'll give you points for knowing what ICANN is ;)

Usually places have only a CNAME record on their DNS server for entries like "www.domain.com" that points to "domain.com", which is an A record with an IP address. This site does that as you can see here:

;; ANSWER SECTION:
www.computerforum.com. 14400 IN CNAME computerforum.com.
computerforum.com. 14400 IN A 207.58.188.157

I'd imagine there is some portion of vBulletin that handles the www subdomain differently than the base domain.

You can ignore the message and just hit Forum and it will continue your session. I have the same issue, with a saved password I'm still prompted for login but can also just click "Forum" again and it shows as logged in.

Icann

Yea that's what I meant, the domain name server. Which you edit through your domain registrar, which has to register with ICANN.

I know a TON about computers. Do you know what a MOSFET is (___ ___ ___ field effect transistor) and a bipolar junction transistor, and that these are arranged in logic circuits to create the processor, and this is what makes up "machine language" which is the basis for all the other higher-level programming languages?

And as we all know, the first electronic computers were created during World War II to crack German codes.

IN YOUR FACE, HITLER!!!

Huh? I guess I missed something here..

I suppose my next question has to be....

Did you make sure your MOSFETs were functioning properly? :p
