Who here is familiar with Black Friday sales when it comes to components?

Fry's specifically. This is what's going on. I need to purchase a new mobo [decided on the EVGA X58 FTW3 - $270], a new processor for another PC of mine [Microcenter has the Intel Core i7 950 for $230], and 4gigs of DDR3 for that same other PC which will probably run around a bill. So I'm looking at $650ish after all taxes and such. Well Black Friday is just over a month away, an from what I always hear of Black Friday is that the deals are killer. How likely is it that Fry's will have all of the necessary pieces I need on the day if I camp it out to insure I'll be near the front of the line? I'm not sure how they stock up an what they sell on the day, but if they do have all of this stuff - what should I expect to save in total pricing?

They should have everything you need to build a system. places like www.newegg.com and TigerDirect have Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals as well. They have everything you need and more.

Yeah also with a lot of sites if you sign up to their Newsletter most will send out the sales before the actual dates. I am hoping to see some $1 per GB SSD drives this year :P

So then I can just sit on my ass an click some buttons rather than campout in the cold for Fry's? Haha. I'm just wondering if the savings for what I need will be worth waiting a month for, rather than just forking out retail prices right now.

Will the online deals work like in stores? Like, are they just first come first serve, or is it just a special deal for that day? I'd like an opportunity to get some parts as well.

Sorta. Some deals are "store only" other deals like Newegg/Tigerdirect are online only (as they have no stores). Least you wont have to worry about being trampled to death online :P

First come first serve. They sell really fast to so you gotta be fast :)

Black Friday means awesome deals on select items. If you already have specific components in mind, they're probably not going to be on sale unless you get lucky. If you're looking for a bargain, you're going to want look at the deals before you start picking your components.
