which soundcard w/Logitech 5500s?

I am hooking up a system that I will use for recording music off cds to make mix cds. I will also be playing my cds(jazz, rock, etc.) and I am concerned with sound quality.
Two questions-

1) I have heard great reviews about the Logitech 5500 speaker system. So I am considering them, but what about a soundcard that will give me excellent sound? Please advise.

2) I also heard that the predecessors to the Logitechs(I think they were the 6800s) were also of great quality. Maybe i can go with these if I get a good price. Would the upgrade to the 5500s be a marked improvement, or should I go for any potential savings and get the older model?

Thanks in advance.

if you have no budget:) than get the x-fi elite pro and the logitech z-5500 and if you want 7.1 system get the gigaworks s750 (but 7.1 is too complicated for me and i do not think it is necessary) anyhow in my opinion logitech makes better speakers {logitech should go into business with creative and creative makes soundcards and logitech makes speakers and they should call them logative:cool: } but if your on a budget get a audgy value card or audgy zs and the logitech z-5300 system i have them and i love them

dude, that would be pretty awsome :P

Here's what I have so far...

Just to give you guys an impression of what I am doing...

Aerocool Spiral Galaxies case
PC Power and Cooling 510w power supply
Thermaltake Big Typhoon heatsink
WD Raptor hard drive(74gig)
WD Caviar Sata2 320gig hard drive(2, one for video and another for audio)

Asus MOBO-have'nt decided which one
AMD processor
memory-don't know yet

These 3 items I will get this week. But the budget is flexible for a good soundcard and I also realize that just buying the most expensive one is'nt the way I want to go-it certainly is'nt how I chose the other components. So thanks for any more advice y'all can give me. I'll take it from there and do some more research and hopefully I can decide on this and the video card by the end of the week.

well with soundblaster the most expensive is the best:P but i would go with the live 24-bit if you want really good sound for $30 but if u have some $100 to spend get the x-fi extreme music (GREAT STUFF) and the zs is very popular
