We need your motherboard model. The Realtec ac97 audio is the chipset. That doesn't tell us how many speakers it supports.

Shady, what kind of speakers are you using? I have RealtekAC97 sound, and Advent Powered Partner speakers, and I personally think it's good enough for even music. What's so crappy about yours?

i'm not an expert at this... that's why i'm asking
but i know that i have crappy speakers , they are ruined

i'm gonna buy a new one ... but i'm wondering if my onboard sound card deserves that or i should just go and buy another crappy speakers

you have a pretty decent system.

why don't you get a sound card that supports 7.1 and go for it all the way?

This way, you release some of the pressure off your CPU processing all that sound.

I recently did my upgrade and it makes a huge difference with music and games. even though i've got a 7.1 I'm still using my 2.1 and it still makes a huge difference.

na i just wanna get speakers
i'm confused between Creative inspire 2.1 and 4.1
i might end up getting regular speakers

if you have integrated sound that supports 4.1, then use it to your advantage since sound is so much better when channels are appropiately distributed.
my only concern is that hopefully it won't impact your CPU much.

I think your motherboard only has 3 audio jacks in the I/O panel. So you're stuck with 2.1. But do get decent 2.1 speakers, as even with onboard audio, the difference is huge depending on what speakers you get.
