Which one do you think is the best? make sure you consider the price and performance ratio.

Price to performance my onboard is the best no questions lol. the Abit NF7-S 2.0's came with onboard soundstorm audio, and since i jsut game and listen to music that is plenty. i actually purchased a Hercules Muse 5.1 GameSurround card and still liked onboard better.

But Onboard is only a good choice if the mobo you have is equpiied with decent sound. for older boards the onboard is crap, and even some newer ones aren't so good.

I got an OEM audigy for $40 back when they were still fairly new. No complaints, but my onboard Intel High Definition (not AC97) is pretty good

im taking it that you dont have a nice speaker setup. lol

i like how the x-fi enables CMSS 3-D, so when i have a headset you cant tell where its coming from, dont know if the audigy 2 series has that or not.

...what's the point? i'd rather save money and hear sound, then spend money and hear the same sound. My dad purchased a $100 Audigy 2 card and a 5.1 surround sound system for his office, and i can't justify the price he payed for it. my onboard and 4.1 speakers are phenominal and i'll keep em' till they give out. sound is sound unless one is VERY bad and the other is good. the difference from good sounding to "better" sounding isn;t worth the price you pay to me.

save the nice speakers and the cash for car audio or a home theater system.

well then you must not play alot of new games, since those cards have EAX support, and numerous other fetures, and if you play gamnes that support EAX, you will hear a huge difference.

my onboard SoundStorm supports EAX along with other features. Thief 3 has EAX options.

Hell, I've had my SB Live! since back from my dimension 4550. I hadles my 6.1 setup, eax, and my 5.1 headset, it's good by me.
