So I started off fresh with computer about 3 days ago. And i've got to say trying to catch up to speed is very complicated and nervewrecking. I'm trying to get all the info I can so I could fully understand the full functions of each and every main component. Knowing levels of quality and performance, are the area's that I like. But looking to much foward into my dream and not enough progress throughtout my way to upgrading my computer to the next stage, requires a lot of work. I've been component hoping every so hour, trying to fill my mind in with idea's and at the same time trying to learn how performance is looked at with certain parts such as psu's , gsu's , mobo etc. Such I just want to learn at a good steady pace, learn every component and all of its funcions and how all the number work throughout its quality/performance.

So i'm asking for some kind of sites that could give me the basic's that I should know for the basic computer parts.

And i'm asking for some sites tht give me some mroe in depth detail in regards with performance & handling products and knowing the types of combinations that are allowed and certain combinations that are denied. Such as the number of psu/ processors/ gsu and all that.

Hopefully I put that in a way that you reader(s) could understand my level of knowledge/intrest.

Learning about computers IS work. If it's interesting, it's work you enjoy.

The best thing I ever had in order to learn about computer parts wasn't online, but an actual dead-tree book: Upgrading and Repairing PCs, by Scott Mueller. He's up to the 18th edition:
http://www.amazon.com/Upgrading-Repairing-18th-Scott-Mueller/dp/0789736977/ref=dp_ob_title_bk
It'll cost you anywhere from $41 to $65, but you will get all the info you could possibly imagine... and then some. That book has saved my bacon more times than I can count. As far as I'm concerned, that book is the PC Bible.

interesting post.

I wonder how in-depth he goes on about certain brands and all.

Certainly a tool in mind, might have to purchase this.. just wondering if I should purchase before I head into Stage 1 Upgrade

meh, dont go spending that kind of money on a book. the best way is like i did, just surf the net on computer websites and forums. honestly, i probably have around 20-30 hours of just learning about computers. repairing, building, anything you want. if you have a question, just ask here or google it. :D

Kinda hard to do when your PC won't start... at least a book will still work with no power. :D
