When i have my logitech x530's plugged into my onbaord HD 7.1 Sound they buzz at low volume, i tried them in my other pc which has a soundblaster live 5.1 soundcard in it and its fine with no buzzing whatsoever but when i took the soundcard out and put it into this computer it Buzz's through my speakers which is weird becuase they dont if the same sound card is in myt other pc. anyone know what it could be causing my sound to buzz?????? Thanks in advance

Did you disable the onboard sound on the second case? If that was done try moving the card to a different slot. Instead of using the first open pci slot next to the video card try the 2nd or 3rd. If it isn't a bad slot or card raised up in it you could be seeing a resource conflict. Make any drivers for the onboard if originally installed are removed as well. That can see problems.

As PC Eye says, most likely cause is interference from an adjacent card on the bus. Try another vacant slot.

I have just tried another slot and disabled the onboard and checked drivers and i still get the buzzing with this tower. Its weird because the buzzing happens as soon as the speakers are connected to the soundcard even without the pc on, the only way to stop the buzzing once the speakers are plugged in is to turn off the psu or disconnected the pc from the mains.

but why dont i get the interference with my other case in the same position etc.... or is it something inside this case thats interfering? thanks

ARRRR this buzzing is really anoying what could be causing this in my case?

By moving the card that ruled out a bad slot being the cause. Most likely you are seeing some type of electrical RF emission from the supply in that case or through the ac source since it happens only when plugged in there. Does the "buzzzzzzzing" sound anything like an ac hum? huuummmmmmmm nice and steady bbbzzzzzzzzzz? Electrical "bleedthrough"?! RF! You need some type of filtering or another power source if the supply is ruled.

it is a steady hmmmmmmmmm and buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, i thought maybe it could be my power supply, so do you think it is my psu causing the noise????

The speakers there are obviously picking the emmissions from an elextrical source like the supply, power strip, or even ac outlet. Something in the case(supply) or close by is the source. If none of this is heard on the other case you have to isolate the problem there. If you were hearing there too then you would be looking at the speakers and wiring/connectors for them.

i think it must be my supply because i tried them on my other case on the same power strip even with the same power lead, recommend a psu anyone???? oh i wont a silent one by the way :D

thanks

There are several depending how much you can spend and how much power you are looking for wattage wise. One thing I did was compile a list of various brands and the complaints on some to form a "GOOD" and "BAD" list to go by. Note that some still report having seen good results with some brands on the "BAD" list.

Good:
Akasa PaxPower - Antec(except Smart Power models) - Astec - AOpen - Channel Well - Coolermaster - Enermax
- Enlight - Fortron Source (Sparkle) - HEC - Hi-Power - Jeantech - NSpire - OCZ Technology - PC Power & Cooling - PowerMan
- Seasonic - SilenX - SilverStone - Tagan - TTGI/SuperFlower - Vantec - Zippy / Emacs - Verax - Zalman
- Corsair

Bad:
Allied - Antec Smart Power models(recommend True Power or NeoHE) - Aspire - CoolMax - DEER - EYE-T
- KingStar - L&C - Linkworld - Logisys - PowerMagic - PowerUp - Powmax - Q-Tec - Raidmax - Skyhawk - Star
- Turbolink - Ultra - ThermalTake

ok thanks pal, how come thermal take are bad i thought they was good? oh well ill have a gander on the net for some of those in the good list, thanks again

The "BAD" list is mainly those makes people have made complaints on. It was never intended to specify any as "TOTAL FOOBAR" but to be careful on when deciding which one to choose from. The "GOOD" list is from the "good word" and recommendations heard often.

Most of the time the recs are made by specifications like amps on rails rather then general knowledge. But you can find the occasional "reject" with any make. I was actually thinking of starting a new thread where you would post the makes and models not from case to case transfer but where you saw positive results after buying several of the same for different builds. This would be more of a general poll people could refer to when needing ideas.

I dont know what would cause it in this case, but i know with the old JVC Urban Assult boombox i have it does the same thing and its caused by a leaking transister. Its trying to amplify a signal when there is none.

The problem seems to be limited to one case alone. So you know it's not the speakers themselves and the self contained amplifier there. It can't be the same sound card since that was also moved from one case to another. The description points at an electrical source seeing some type of emmission like the supply itself or possibly some cap on the board. But no other problems have been seen to point at the board.

At least you won't have to put up with the hmhmmmmmmzzzzzzbuuuzzzzzzzhhhmmm! from a bad supply. Hopefully you picked out a good one and that doesn't see a repeat performance.
