I have a Minolta QMS Magicolor and I want to hook it up to a wireless network. I've tried an Airlink and a Hawkings print sever without sucsess. Is there some kind of compatablity list somewhere?

I don't know about print servers but, if all your printers are hooked up to a computer that are networked and running windows you can print to any printer in the network.

What kind of setup are you using? tell us how everything is connected, protocols, the whole shabang... you have to enable printer sharing in windows, if that helps at all...

What I've got

I've got a Belkin wireless-g router, I'm running xp pro, I've gotClient for Microsoft Networks, File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks, Microsoft TCP/IP version6, NWLink Netbios, Qos packet sceduler, NWlink IPX/SPX/Netbios Compatable Transport Protocol, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). The reason I want to have a print server is that my condo is so small and the printer is huge. I want to tuck it away in the closet.

The Answer

 After going through probably half a dozen servers I stumbled upon a detail written in the spec.s of a print server I was going to try next. Does not support GDI printers. In other words, to make the printers cheaper most of the processing is left to the computer. Minolta 2300w is a GDI a.k.a host-based printer. The only server that Minolta supports is a SEH Baseline 650 (not wireless) Solution: Use a dedicted computer with a wireless net. card.
