If I buy a 7600GT for my HP Pc that has a generic power supply probably around 250-300 Watts...Will my pc blow up if theres not enough power? or will nothing happen and the graphics card won't work and that way I can get a new power supply If I NEED it and not get one without knowing if ill need it or not

how much power is usually required for something like a 7600GT??

I posted under a different thread but i didnt find out so i started a new thread

Your computer will not blow up if there is no power, but your video card will not be able to run at full speed because it does not have enough power going to it. For my PC, I had to take everything off the line for my 6600GT, otherwise I would get like 5 FPS... ridiculous...

Anyways, you are most likely going to need a new PSU for that GPU, because I have a 400W 20A on the 12V rail and it can barely power my 6600GT (your card replaces mine:D)

OK, lets think here... How could something blow when there's not enough power :P Hehe...

Worst I suspect that would happen would be you get errors that you don't have enough power for the card. I don't know the exact specs required for the 7600, but I'd guess 350-400w, and about 30A on the 12v rail(s) That'd be my min. for a gamming machine.

So where can I get a good Power Supply at a decent price that will fit my HP? Doens't HP and Compaq customize thier stuff so that you can only buy parts from them? Where could I find a power supply that would run a 7600GT that would fit my HP a1310n

NEWEGG!!!!

And it will fit inside my "HP" Case? cause like I said...they make theirs specifically like half an inch off so that you can only purchase parts from them

^^^^ thats my brother about whom i was talkin bout in the other thread that had this problem...im no expert on power supplies but i have a general idea...i thought it would be best to ask here first
