What should I upgrade?

Hi, I am new to these forums, I didn't really know where to post this so I thought I would post this in this section as it seemed relevant!

I have attached two pictures of the specifications of my computer to the topic. I use my computer mainly to play games and watch films ect. Mainly games though, I just wondered what would be best to upgrade as Christmas is coming up and my Wife wants to upgrade it ;)

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris.

Adding another 4 gb of memory would help a little. Do you have 1 stick of ram or 2 currently? What types of games are we talking about?

Hi I currently have 2 sticks of 2gb, All games I always download the latest games and I know with the introduction of the PS4 and the ONE the game standards are going to rise a lot over the next year. Do you think I need to upgrade my graphics card and processor?

I'd replace your 2x2GB with 2x4GB. Get your wife to buy you a nice 2x4GB kit for Christmas. ;)

Probably best to stick to 1333MHz RAM since you have an OEM PC and 1600MHz or faster may not work. How fast is the RAM you currently have?

Yeah I think I will have to ask her...

I couldn't answer that question at the moment I'm at work! Do you not think my graphics card needs upgrading?

Ok Mini

Please download PC Wizard from my sig, install it on the computer in question, run it and go to FILE, SAVE AS, click OK and copy the contents of the file into this thread.

Also post what PSU you have (make and model)

Please also post your approximate budget and gaming resolution (e.g. 1080p).

Also let us know what games you play now and what games you will likely want to play in the near future.

Maybe.

It depends on several things really.

Firstly, if you'd be willing to be upgrade your power supply should you need to (what is your PSU? Make/model no?)

Secondly, if you think you need to upgrade. If you are happy with the 460, then leave it.

Thirdly, if there is enough room in your case for a new GPU, though since you have already got a GTX 460 in there I think you'll be OK.

Do you feel that you need a graphics card upgrade?

What kind of budget are you looking at? A GPU would give you a larger 'gaming' type of upgrade but I would find computing with 4 GB of RAM quite an unpleasant experience as well.

Anything hugely high end like a 290x or similar, your CPU would likely bottleneck its performance to a noticeable degree.

What kind of power supply are you using? (Brand, model)
