What is wrong?

Why does my computer(emachines) make this annoying sound from the speakers when I am surfing the inernet? It gets louder and more consistent if I am d/ling something, so it's related to packets being transferred and bandwith. Should I reinstall my sound card?

I would definitely consider reinstalling it....I think it could be getting some problems with xp, I had a similar problem like that and the drivers took care of the problem

Mine was almost like a high pitched squeal from the speakers....kind of like trying to play 10 songs simultaneously through 2 speakers :confused:
 
Are you using a pci ethernet card? built in ethernet? built in sound? add in cards? Are you playing music when this happens? What are your system specs?
