Me and my friend are starting up an online business and we have 3 computers in total between us. The first one is my one which is the best it is a 1.6 Ghz 1 Gb Ram 80gb Hard disk which i am currently use to write into these forums. This is my programming computer. But out of the other two is any of them fit to serve as a server computer. The other two are an: Hewlett Packard Vectra VE - 367MHz, 64mb Ram and a IBM Personal Computer 300GL - 133 MHz, 32 Mb ram. Is any of those two fit to be used as a server computer i can put up to 6.5 gb of hard disk space into any one of them. :) someone help me on this thanks we are new to the server and database tech side of things.

I can buy any size hard drive i need its just the 6.5 is what i already have.

It depends on the traffic you are going to expect, but any reasonable sized load will make either one of them choke.

so if i gather round about 3 grand what can i get that will get me started into the internet world.. what kinds of computer would u suggest??

A dual core processor, about 4 gigs of RAM, a SCSI RAID 5 array and a damn good connection ought to get you going. Use Linux as your O/S, because Windows makes a pretty poor and not very robust webserver.
