Ok so I've posted a lot in the last week. My current system is an athalon ii x2 240, radion 4350, xpower 585 psu. I have looked at every way possible and there are two options for me right now. Not wanting to risk any new purchase I need to replace my psu and will cost me 59.99.
Option 1 : upgrade CPU to amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition

Option 2: upgrade Gpu to 6670

Don't really have the money to do both at one time. What option will give me the most improvement.

I vote for the CPU. If you upgrade the GPU, chances are that CPU will bottleneck it pretty badly so it would be more/less pointless if you ask me.

But why are you wanting to go with a 6670? The price you spend on the Phenom II X4 965 should also be good enough to get a better graphics card than that.

the cpu is on sale for 109.00 If I wasnt going with a 6670 My real choice would be the 6850 and its 149.00.

I beleive that I am leaning toward the cpu upgrade

Unfortunately the Xpower power supply you have only has 216 watts on the 12 volt rail. Thats not gonna be enough.

well crap I wish the guy that built this thing wouldve used a better psu. ok so I guess we are back to the question of cpu or gpu. I can either go with this cpu now and save for a quality gpu or get the gpu and upgrade the cpu later. was thinking of I3 at one point but would have to upgrade mobo if i did that.

The question should be asked, what do you do with your computer most? Are you looking for gaming improvements? Do you currently have issues playing games? What else do you do with you PSU>?

I only play games pretty much. I can currently play league of legends i play it alot. I am starting to play d3 but it dosent play great on my computer. I dont do anything else with my psu. The primary reason I was going with the 6670 was to keep from replacing my psu for the moment. However when I started thinking about the phenom I was more concerned with the psu since It is a 125 watt psu and my current draws like 25 watts

I honestly was going to get a 550ti and a psu but just trying to push ideas around and get the most performance out of my system for the least money. even the ddr3 6670 would be a huge improvement over my current card. If I was just going to do a card I would do it without a psu and save some money. If i could Id buy the phenom and the 6670 and no psu but from what I gather it isnt a good idea.

would the 6670 and my current system do ok? I can always just do that and upgrade to an intel later

Power supply. Then you have reliabitily throughout any upgrades or new build.
After that, GPU that can also be easily moved.
In the mean time could see about oc'ing the 240 some and if there's anything that will unlock.

Then change the platform.

So if I bought the psu and Gpu is my current CPU going to bottleneck it. I had thought of buying the Gpu psu combo and waiting to go intel

Probably, but with a dedicated card you'll see significant improvement.
If you can find a compatible 2gb of memory on the cheap somewhere, that would help.
Someone that knows your games can answer that better.
Either way, PS + gpu is best performance option atm.
From your other post:
I primarily use my computer for playing league of legends and general web surfing. I however would like to play some d3 and possibly a few other games. My current system is as follows.
MS Windows 8 Professional 32-bit
AMD Athlon II X2 240
Regor 45nm Technology
2.00 GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 334MHz (5-5-5-15)
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA785GM-US2H (Socket M2)
Acer G185H (1366x768@60Hz)
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series
233GB Seagate ST3250310AS ATA Device (SATA)
Psu xpower585

If you mean CX500 + 550Ti for $180 then that may be the best deal in that performance range but I only looked @ NE. In some instances the V2 on that ps means Seasonic platform but I don't believe thats the case with CX. I think that one is made by CW. Still ok if budget demands it. The Seasonic is better but no combo. So your combo is good.

Maybe a 560 or the 6850 you wanted can soon be found for less if you don't have the other $20 or so right now.

Yea I'm thinking I may be able to squeeze the money out for that one. How bad is my CPU going to bottleneck it though. Will it play a lot better than what I have now?
