They are also a common format for disk images.Binary file. Needs a specific app plus a .tbl file to view it typically.
I use binary files to re-program vehicle CPU's, you flash the file to the chip using a willem programmer.

I know those cpu's/computers in cars and stuff. their basically an 8-bit switch aren't they? I saw one at TAFE.
