what is a bot?

anybody like to expand on this. Just curious. I seen one explanation but others will know more.

'(computing) an automated program for doing some particular task, often over a network'.

Now my question is how does it know the diff and what to say? Ya have so many different forum's for example about different subjects. How does it sort it out and where to go.

Think of a repetitive task that would normally cause you to lose your sanity if you did it. The bot utilizes cursor-movement, clicks, and keyboard strokes to repeat this task that you want to do.
