ive read up on some and they are routers switches etc etc but thats all i know about them and would like your comments aswell

Well, I believe all of the Cisco stuff is switches, along with the Allied Telesis. The Dell PowerEdges are just standard servers, which are basically just really big computers. The APC is used to transfer from AC power to backup power without shutting anything off in the event of a power failure. I think the Hawk-i Sinetica is used to detect any power or heating problems in the hardware and alert someone before there is any damage. The ADVA FPS 3000 is used to trasfer data over fiber optic cable. I'm not entirely sure what the communications server is for... but I think it's a pretty dated piece of equipement that has something to do with dialup connections.

Out of curiosity, what do you do there that doesn't require you to know anything about the hard ware?

its wierd isnt it i know you would of thought my job entailed knowing about servers switches and routers but it doesnt really, all my job entails is the day to day running of the data center building ie look after it, the clients racks i dont deal with
