Wep Or Wpa

I just set it up the router and the default security was WEP. I see there is a choice for either WPA personal or WPA2 personal. Which one do I use?

wpa is more secure and just as hard to set up, I would go with wpa. Sometimes wpa encryption can cause compatibility issues with other wifi devices though, just so you know.

WPA2 uses newer types of encryption which are even harder to crack. The downside of that is perhaps some slight performance hit from the encryption and maybe some connection problems with older devices that could have issues in WPA encryption.

It is all in the wiki page

Ok I went with wpa2 and made up my own key. I made it 27 char long, which should be suffice. I don’t live in the city and my closest neighbor is about 250 feet away, which I am able to pick up his signal only upstairs in my computer room, which faces his house though it’s a poor signal. Everybody else is anywhere from 600 to 800 feet away. Just wanted to make sure I am secured because one never knows. Thanks for all the help.
