Weird noise in the background when I record audio

Hi Siberian,

Sounds like your mic may be too loud. Try to speak closer to it, maybe turn off the mic boost.
There is also a chance that you have some kind of effect on.
Sometimes power cords can cause interference too.

Try disabling any ASUS Overclocking Tools you have in the OS and in the BIOS. Also turn off the ASUS Green Design. Make sure you disable un-necessary overclocking/power saving features in the BIOS too.

You basically want the set up to run at a set Fq that is not to be interfered with by software or other influences.

When your sure that the system specs will not be adjusted automatically give the recording another go.

A guy at another forum thought it was the sound of a poorly connected earhing of the power point. But my socket isn't earthed at all so...

As for my mic being set too loud it is the same if I reduce it to almost nothing. And in windows 7 I haven't seen any boost option at all.

Could be the mike or leads, sounds like distortion plus I picked a feint hum in back ground which could be interference from PSU.

I said earlier that I've tried recording using several different programs, which I have. But just now I recorded a session from TeamSpeak - which I use during gaming - and my sound in there is perfect. The other programs still give the same result. Any thoughts?

Do you have another Mic to try? Also is there anything near the Mic's wire that could give RF interference?

I've tried another mic to no evail. And as for RF interference, can there really be any when my sound in TeamSpeak is fine? Doesn't that kinda prove that no such thing can be the cause?
