have a kind of different question here. Was reading on another web site that windows automatically "tattles to all the other computers on you LAN about your internet history, files dowloaded etc" Meaning every PC on your simple windows network keeps logs of each other's internet activity.
But the claim is that it is all done in "secret" First of all, I don't see how this could be done secretly, even using SMB or some other protocol as any third party firewall would pick this up. Second, windows would have to be running a sufficient application to do so. And third, windows doesn't really have any reason to do this.
Even if it couldn't be detected by a windows operating system, a Linux sniffer or something else would surely detect it. Not only that but the files would be on your PC somewhere. I would think we would know if this was going on.
Am I correct in my assumptions here?
thanks
