Hey all. Soo, site owners are being ripped off quite majorly, paying too much for too little. Has anyone got any ideas of decent hosting on the cheap (less than £120 a year)

Features i need:

PHP
ASP
MySQL
PERL/CGI
At least 1Gb storage
At least 10Gb bandwidth

I also need "phpmyadmin" aswell

Any suggestions are welcome

i am trying to get my paren'ts to let me create an account with them, %7.95 a mopnth if you pay 2 years up front, whihc is a total of $190.8 for 2 years £109.17, you get loads and loads of features for the price, plus there is a $97 off voucher, type MAX97 in the promo codes page and get $97 off, which cuts the price down to $93.80, only £53.67 for 2 years of hosting with all these features:

20 gig of space, 1terrabyte of bandwidth

sounds a really really really good deal, and is well within your budget

edit: sorry, i didn't read the ASP part, i never knew there ware php and asp hosts, so this may not be so good for you

all seem fairly good at the moment, but can you beat this... http://www.web-mania.com/cgi-bin/hostshop1.cgi - i know its only 500Mb storage, but i only currently use about 160Mb. If i need extra storage, i can always use other servers that i have going...

it has phpmyadmins aswell, which is brilliant, only one MySQL database but if ound out that i only need one now, so that doesnt matter really. The only thing i have a concern with is online forms... as in filling out a form and sending it and it gets delivered to a mail box. do you think i can do this on the new server and could i keep the same scripts i used on the last server...?? (im thinking no, but you never know)

cheers, dragon

You can download PHPmyadmin anyway can't you, it is just a php database manager which should work with any web host that

do you mean like the php mail() function, if so there shouldn't be any problem transferring over to a different host, so is houdl think you would be able to keep the same scripts

heya lee. no, im not using PHP MAIL() function, im using a CGI script usin the servers own mail distribution prgram. I checked with the etch support and they do not have the same program as the previous host, so i would need to change the sendmail path in the script, should be ok though.

as for phpmyadmin, again it would need to be installed at the server end, i could not do it from here, as you see only some hosts provide it, mean/stingy ones dont.

Thanks for all your help. I think im going with www.web-mania.com cheap and seems really good, if i get it and its real slow orr something, they have a 7 day money back garuntee, and i would still be running the original server aswell, so its all cool

cheers everyone, dragon
