Webcam Recording Question

Hi there, I seem to have a question I can't find the answer to by the conventional means of googling, so I thought I should post here.

My question is, is there any software or possibility of recording my webcam (Microsoft Lifecam HD 720p) with a different audio source? The Lifecam's mic is god awful and picks up just about every noise you don't want it to and I'd much prefer to use my good microphone to record audio, whilst simultaneously recording video (as opposed to recording a vid feed and audacity at the same time as the sync issues become a nuisance). The Lifecam's software does not allow me to change audio sources, unless I'm missing something right in front of me, so I was wondering is there any possibility to get a piece of software to record this, or a workaround that I can use?

Thanks for your time.

In most programs, plug in your mic and cam then choose cam for lifecam and mic for your mic. In flash on the browser, right click the content and click settings, pretty straightforward from there. On a program, open the settings and choose your mic, then cam, usually 2 different settings.

I am very aware how to do it, but I do not know of a piece of local recording webcam software to do so with it, I don't understand why you'd assume I'd come all the way to a computer specialised forum to ask something I can find the answer to on the back of every webcam box.

Hold on, please have a little patience with someone who is trying to help.

As for your original problem, I doubt the LifeCam software would allow you to choose independent video and audio sources. Perhaps something like Adobe Premiere Elements would allow for this as it's an independent software suite. Runs about $100 US.

Apologies. I have just researched a bit on Premiere Elements and it is exactly what I need so I will be making the purchase soon, thank you very much!
