Webcam Help

Friend of mine has a webcam and can't seem to record any usable videos, like playable in WMP or Winamp or other common media players. She has a Ezonics Model #EZ388. What is the best way of capturing video using a webcam? She would prefer a free method over an expensive method.

Did the cam come with any software most webcams do.

If so the disk should have a recorder on it.

The person says it only came with Amcap. Does anyone know how to set Amcap up so it saves the recorded video as file format readable by WMP or Winamp, or even a format that can be viewed on the net?

Use any video editing programs, such as windows movie maker, select capture, select the webcam as the capture device, and you should be able to record it from there.

I have amcap, lovely software (sarcasm). I lost the disk a long time ago, I remember spending quite a while looking for all the drivers (at least 3 hours, then about a month later I did it again). Now I have 3 or 4 copies lying around. :P

Amcap records in .avi so I dont see why your having problems, unless you dont have codecs.

(edit/p.s./thread jack)Is it funny to anyone else how .avi was made by microsoft, used in windows media player, have extra .avi codecs available on the microsoft site, yet it still never works for you?
