Webcam Conferencing

Hi all

Just had a present of a Logitech Quickcam Zoom, I've installed it but having never had or used one before I've a couple of questions.

1) If I downloaded for instance Microsoft Messenger, can I only video talk to others that have the same Messenger or will the Microsoft program talk to Yahoo or any other.
2) If different conferencing programs will not talk to each other, which is the best or most popular.
3) If they can connect to each other, which is the best.
4) Any extra cost involved.

Thanks for any replies.

The best application I have found for voice and video feed communication is Skype, although the only downside to this is you can only cam with one person but voice wise you can talk to up to 5 I think. It's free too. That's the only app I use for such a task.

Ok, thanks for that.
So am I right in assuming now that the same messenger software must be installed on both parties computers ? or is their one that will communicate with all.

Both require all parties to be using the same software in order to conference. You will find next to all conferencing software requiring all parties to use the same software. I don't know of any that communicate with more than one type of software.
