Way to share speaker between two computers?

So I have two computers currently running in one room and I wanted to know if it is possible to share my 6.1 surround system between both computers. The main computer has the better soundcard, but how do I route the 6.1 outputs from the other computer into the main computer?

Does your speaker set have more than one input? That would probably be the easiest way. If you have the chain system, then won't both computers be outputting sound on to off each other? And the first computer need to be on to hear sound from the second computer? Doug.

You would need some sort of server computer in the middle, switching between the sound of one system and the other one.

Hahaha, just kidding.

A KVM Audio switch perhaps?

That would work but its a little more than I was hoping to spend. Both computer have 6.1 surround outputs but only one input, i guess im wondering if theres a way to send all three outputs from one computer to the input of the other.

I can't see how you'd do this cheap. Ideally you're wanting to have a 12 channel in mixer with 6 sends, but that's gonna be decently pricey.

Best to just swap the cables over, unless you can live with just having stereo from your second computer... - You could just go headphone out - line in between the computers, and mute it in system preferences when you don't want it.
