Want to replace intel pentium b940 with i7 is it possible

I want to upgrade my laptops processor and i just want to check and make sure i get the right processor my processor is the intel pentium b940 i want to replace it with the i7 can u plz let me know if it is replacable with an i7 and what i7 will fit my laptop is the toshiba satellite L755-S5246 thank you
 
upgrading the processor in a laptop is rarely a good idea. Your cooling solution is designed to run exactly what it has at the factory, not an i7.
 
even so i planned to get the lower ghz of the i7 to help keep from over heating im not getting the desired performance out of my laptop and a couple friends of mine have upgraded their own processors with no issues if not the i7 than what might be a viable replacement altho the i7 is my preferred purchase
 
To add to what wolfeking has already said, I didn't see on the specs that you have an expandable CPU socket. The CPU is most likely in the motherboard for good. Even if you could change it, Your laptop will not have the settings necessary to underclock the i7. It's just not a good idea. Leave it alone.
