Those who said that voltage control didn't work on non-reference xfx 5770's are wrong, or maybe only a few of them work, but who knows. I was able to improve my overclock from 930/1300 to:
And as you can see i upped the core voltage by 50mV
Seems to be stable after 3 runs of 3dmark06 
And it doesn't seem to be getting any hotter, 68c at load, and 34c after a cold boot. around 40c after a few hours of gaming and a while at the desktop.
Should have done this earlier
EDIT: enabled unnofficial overclocks. gunna see if i can hit 1ghz/1.4ghz stable!
