Virtual PC Software?

I haven't really used any virtual pc software lately so I have no idea whats around and what everyone is using at the moment.

I just downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC but am having problems with it.
I know alot of people on here favour VMware... is that still the case?

I don't think that VPC supports 64 Bit OS's... is that correct?

Should I just get Vmware? If so then which Vmware program is the one everyone prefers?

What would I be best off doing? I am looking to run Windows 7 x64 on it by the way. I would use it for my main OS but my internet connection doesn't support it, so I just want it installed so I can mess around on it :)

i got 32bit win 7 installed on it atm but it doesn't bring it justice the vid card is preset and ram is limited i recommenced a dual boot rather then VM
 
I did have it dualbooted but I decided against it as I'd rather have a single OS running and I pretty much never used it. I just want it running on a virtual machine so I can mess around with it and stuff. But I don't think that the MS one supports x64 OS's...
 
Well I'm considering downloading Vmware then, but am not sure what one to get. One of them was free and was the one that everyone recommended me last time I enquired about it... Can't remember which one it was though.

Dunno tbh...Virtual box is to run a 64-bit VM inside a 32-bit host though and the other way round.

Its the best VM ive used,Better than Vmware i think :)

How big is the download? I download at 13kb/s so I dislike downloading big files unless I'm leaving them overnight. Otherwise I can't browse the web while downloading because of my horrible download speed.
 
Thats an hour to download for me... And seeing as I can't download and browse the internet at the same time because of my download speed, I think I'll download it tonight when I go to sleep :)

If you wanna go bare minimum for virtualization, virtual pc 2007 works fine but no graphics acceleration like vmware workstation.

Im pretty sure that Virtual box...does have an option to enable graphics acceleration.

il be installing Ubuntu Beta later,il tell you.

I'm pretty surevirtual box has graphics acceleration also, i was stating that virtual pc is smaller than virtual box, but has no graphics acceleration;)

Appears to have somewhat of a gpu acceleration;)
 
Ok sounds good. I'll download it tonight.

I'll never get over how nice it was to use virtual machines on OS X though. I mean they were like fully integrated so the VM program was hidden and you could just run apps and stuff from shortcuts. So you could click the cod4 icon and launch it from windows without having the program running in a window. It was much more integrated then it is with windows... :(

I wouldn't really use that with windows... Like I don't need to run other apps from different OS's while on windows. Only when its the other way round. However it would be cool to be able to use Aperture in windows... and run win programs in linux without using stuff like Wine.
