Video Creating Softwear

Im looking to find some good software to create vids with mainly it will be videos of .jpg images one after the other in sequence but i might progress to some more strongly video based work so if you could just give me some recommendations that would be super .

PS. i can find windows movie maker on my hd, is it supposed to be standard with XP ?

i just use movie maker, it free and easy to use, yeah it does come with xp and vista

Sony Vegas is another good one. It's much better then windows movie maker.
