Very low sound

Hey, my sister and I have similar computers, http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-PAVILION-A68...ZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item518c13746d , and the sound on both of our computers have recently become very low (no speakers are used), apparently for no reason at all. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? thanks

Low in volume? Turn them up? Seems if they both went quiet at the same time, then a windows update (or something updating) has reset the volume to a lower level, or something.

EDIT: 'very low sound' in most peoples books would equate to a very low frequency sound, and I assume this isn't what you mean
