using speedfan question?

I just downloaded speedfan it is showing the following.

Fan 1: 548
FAn 4: 1799

Fan 2 and three it shows zero, there are 3 fans total in this system, one in the power supply 95 mm in the rear and a large 120mm in the front that has a big shroud on it that fits over the heat sink.

next to cpu there is a flame symbol and it says 56C
Next to internal temp it switches between a blue down arrow and a green checkmark showing 38C
There is a flame next to remote temp and it says 53C
There is a blue arrow pointing down next to HDO: 34C

Does anybody know what these figures mean and if i need to change anything?

What would be safe temp zones?

The 4th temp is generally for the first hard drive while the first is for the cpu and second for core, third for the board. HD0 is hard drive #1 while any more drives would be HD1 for #2, HD2 for a third drive, and so forth.

If you are seeing 56C on the first top temp recheck that by looking at the hardware monitor in the bios to see if your cpu is running hot. You may want to cross compare that to readings seen with the monitor and another freeware called the System Info for Windows(SIW) tool found at http://www.gtopala.com/siw_on_pc_world.html

In the column seen on the left under hardwares click on the sensors to see what that shows for temps. That will show the temps for core #0 and core #1 if you are running a dual core model cpu.
 
I just took speedfan out after trying it, I just dont know if i can believe the numbers it's giving me.

I have a 2.66 Ghz celeron D processor, I have a 6 Bay BTX mid tower case with a 120mm variable speed fan in the front that has a shroud on it that fits over my processors heat sink and it has a 95mm variable speed fan in the rear.

I do notice that the air comming out of it is fairly warm. But this sytem automatically speeds the fan up as needed and it's running rather quiet right now.

These fans that are in this thing can be very loud and fast if need to be, one time we lost power and my computer was on, when this happens and you restart for the first time the fans spin so fast it gives off quite a howell for the first few second and then slowly comes down to normal speed.

I notice two with certain programs that i run that use more cpu you can hear the fans speed up more, most programs though they run fairly low and quiet.

Gateway says that this type of setup causes a wind tunnel effect in the case, they claim between that and the way the case is designed it makes for a much cooler operation.

I also had a hard time understanding speed fan, im no computer pro so the best programs to me are the ones that are automatic. Whitch abviously is not always really the case, harder to use programs though seem to be easy to mess up.

SpeedFan has been known to give off false readings at times just like Everest or other programs. But SpeedFan isn't a large app that takes up cpu time. This is why taking a look in the bios to see if the board there has it's monitor to show what the sensors are seeing was advised earlier.

I found the SIW tool sensor readings matched what was seen in the bios here on an Asus model board. Sometimes the Asus Probe II will also work on other makes. Besides SIW the PC Wizard program has been popular with several for keeping an eye on temps.

Which version of Speedfan was that? There's a new 4.33 version available now to see if that will work better there. With both XP and Vista here Vista saw problems with the 4.32 version while XP saw good results. The 4.31 was then used until the 4.33 came out for temp readings on Vista. Are you running the stock hsf there?
