I have a router that I want to use behind another router so i can have both computers in my room on the internet but when i plug the computers in it doesnt connect the lights flash when i turn it on and the power light stays on but none of the other lghts stay on is there something i need to do to configure it to work behind another router?

If none of the LAN lights come on when you plug the computers in, and you know the connections are good, the router is faulty.

Also, some routers are not capable of running as switches. Certain Linksys models come to mind.

the router works when it is used as the only router on the network so i know it is isnt faulty and its a d-link di-604? is this a known one that wont work?

You should get a link light regardless, unless you have bad cables or a bad router as others mentioned... That is unless there's something really strange about that particular router...

Well, I've done this before, but with a Belkin router and it gave me no problems. I don't even think I disabled DHCP, but that's a good measure to take because it might try to assign an IP address before the other router can. Also, as you probably realize, you can't use the WAN/Internet port for your network.
