USB ports not working

I've got a Sony Vaio thats just over a year old. Not sure of the model.
My USB ports aren't working. Whenever I plug anything in, it doesn't register that there's anything connected. Any idea how to fix it?
 
Go into your Device Manager click on the USB controllers/Hubs. Right click and click uninstall. Reboot and let windows reinstall the drivers. See if they work.
