I think i made a dumb decision but not sure....i've been using a logitech usb headset and today bought a x-fi soundcard but can i use the headset through the soundcard? I'm thinking no as ive tried for a while now to make it happen, anyone have similar problems or am i just that dumb to have bought something i cant plug my usb headset into and expect to be able to use both?

The output on the Creative model there is mainly for external speakers with their own built in amplifier. If you bought the front panel for use in a 5 1/4" drive bay that would have jacks for both input and output for head phones. But that wouldn't be for usb. You would have to go usb to analog there.

As far as I understand soundcards... the sound will be processed by the soundcard, no matter what... just the output would be USB instead of a normal Jackplug out. I dont really see a problem in it, you should be fine :) ( the soundcard is doing its job, just the output goes through the USB port as far as i know =] )

There would have to be something that detected the source of the sound like some type of software sound mixer to feed out to the head phones. Which model are those? 250, 300, 350?

well... unless the USB headset has an integrated soundacers.. and the onboard is disabled.. logically, the Soundcard would do its job, or you wouldnt hear anything on the headphones.. correct me if im wrong on that please.

It will depend on the model there. This is why the question of which model is being used was asked. Some of those are equipped for internet chat with microphones on them. The onboard sound for the board would have to be disablled with the Creative X-FI series card installed. You would need an external usb sound device to plug the head phones into in order to use those.

I think im S.O.L. so im gonna get a Sennheiser PC160SK then itll be even better then the logitech anyways. I hear they make awesome headsets.

Ive never had a chance to try out that brand quite yet in fact. Generally I only use a pair of Koss head phones when the noise level around here gets a little too much at times.
