USB cable A female to A female

Hi,

I just bought 2 new USB cables A female to A female. I connected one cable from USB hub to my PC's USB, but it doesn't work. I tried to print it from my printer, it is saying the printer off line. Then I tried second cable, it is the same problem. I am very sure my PC's USB works fine.
Do you know what is wrong?
Thanks

Ken

Your usb hub should require a standard usb cable If you are trying to hook it up from the hub to your pc. Is your printer hooked up to the hub?

Yes, my printer connects to Hub and my USB (female to female) cable connects from Hub to computer USB.
So what is the difference between my current USB cable and standard cable that Johnb35 just mentioned above? why doesn't my usb cable work?

Thanks

Your usb hub should have a separate usb hookup, should look like the connection that your printer has on it, almost a square connection and not a flat connection. That is actually the input for the hub. The flat connections are the output.

Do you know the model number of hub you have?

Is this pic similar to the hub you have?

If so, the cable coming out of the hub goes to your pc, then the usb cable from your printer would go in one of the 4 ports in the front.

Did you run out of usb ports on your computer, is that why you are using a hub? Another possbility is that you may need a powered usb hub for certain devices to work correctly like a printer.

Thanks for your response. But my question is how can I connect one printer to 2 computers by using an USB Hub ? So I can print my document from any computer to printer without disconnect the pinter cable from this computer to another computer.

Thanks
