Upgrading Sound card

I have the old school Sound blaster live! 5.1 haha

What would be the best bang for the buck? Is the Audigy series still any good? Or is the X-Fi a must?

I've gotten two Audigy 2 ZS's for two different computers, and I am more than satisfied with them. Music is one of the top things I use my comp for and I got the creative 6.1 megaworks speakers and they sound great with that sound card, so I don't think you really need to go better personally

The audigy 2 zs is a really nice card, but if you want the best sound quality, then go with the x-fi. What speakers do you have?

I'm thinking X-fi, but which one...The fatality seems to be best for gaming, but I listen to a lot of mp3 on my comp as well. And my current speakers would most likely need to be upgraded because there is only 4 of them(Cambridge Soundworks) But I plan to be an external speaker source:D....For some mad bass.

sounds like you wouldn't be getting one anyways, but the first was an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer (no difference from the regular Audigy 2 ZS except for a few more bundled games) and the second was a regular Audigy 2 ZS. And yeah, you definitely need to get some high quality speakers to appreciate any of the cards you're thinking about

I have a preference for Turtle Beach sound cards... they perform on par with or better than Creatives and they are reasonably priced.

I'd say go with the X-Fi, my friend has an Audigy and I put mine in his computer so he could try it out and he loved the X-Fi.
