I'm not that computer-savvy, so I really need help in upgrading my computer.

I'm using:

Windows Vista Home Premium
3070MB RAM
DirectX10
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 1523 MB
1440 X 900 (32 bit) (60 Hz) Monitor
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+

I'm thinking of getting a new processor and video card. Not sure which

I want to improve my computer to allow me to run games on max setting. I'm trying to keep my budget around $300, but if it's a bit more, I don't mind.

Anyone have some suggestions, please?

EDIT: Took out the intel processor. Learn something new every day. :)

Well firstly if your using a AMD X2 5000+ at the moment you cant get a Intel CPU without getting a new motherboard...

What motherboard you using? Cause you need at least AM2+ socket for quads. That Phonem II CPU is AM3 Im not sure if it is backward capable for AM2+ though.

None of the other links work for me so yeah lol.

5000+ to a 7750 would be sorta pointless. I would look at a Phenom II or Phenom X3 or X4.

As far as RAM goes, You will need 4Gb to run Vista smooth. DDR2 1066, 800 will suffice.

Great card, Im getting one in 2 weeks. Best value for the performance.

I would like to know the wattage of you PSU. Probably need at least a 550w to 600w.

If not.

I used the CPU-Z program to find out the motherboard. What came up was:

Manufacturer: ASUSTek Computer INC.
Model: NARRA3 3.02
Rev.: A3
LPCIO: Fintek F8000

I have no idea what this means...

Does this help with anything?
