Thinking of upgrading my speakers since i purchased a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity 7.1 card.

i dont need 7.1,i was thinking of going 5.1 and replacing my 2.0 Logitch -x140 with these

you think they will be good? my current x140s are great but they dont have that nice sub :P

thanks in advance people!

That's a decent set there. Logitech makes some great speakers for a lower price seen with other brands. I run 5.1 here while having 7.1 capability just the same with the Xtreme Gamer model card.

As long as you have the room to give the speakers a little space for separation you should do quite well. Then you will definitely hear the big difference in sound when moving up to them.

thanks for replying,

i think thats a great price though for what i would get,it has a Headphone jack aswell for late night gaming :D

There also this one but i think the Logitechs would be better

that set does not have a headphone jack though, well i dont think it does.

Creative make some good speaker sets as well. However the preference would still be with Logitech and leave Creative for the sound cards. :P

Late night gaming?! You have to have a head phone jack or listen to everyone screaming at you! "turn that noise off!" GGrrrr...!!! ..... :P

I always had Koss onhand for a great sound quality without the high price. Then they started using a flimsy plastic with plastic hinges that snap in a second or two. hhhmmm.... Time for a cordless Sony pair that almost sees the same amount of bass response while not too bad considering a higher price.

Hey Neva, i'm pretty sure Cohen has a pair of these, you should ask him :D

Also, io have the x-240. I think it's basically liek your old 140's plus a sub. good luck :D

i have the x 540's and they are really good.

My sister has the R1's (i think) and they are good.

My brother has the X 210's and they are very good.

So for 5.1 X 540's are really good.

X-530's are great! I have them and I love them! I highly recommend them.

Good stuff, looks like il be ordering them when i come back off holiday then :)

The Logitech Z-640s run here have been just what the doctor ordered a few years back and can be seen at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-970073-0120-Z640-Speakers/dp/B0000AI3ZJ

Those I caught for $60 US at a pc show while simply browsing to replace a not so good 2 1/2 set. After nearly 4yrs. of use they still do well saying something about the brand to start with.

those looks quite nice aswell, however no price tag on them as theyre unavailable :(

I grabbed those up when first seeing them while at a pc show back in 2004. The newer sets have obviously seen a large change in appearance since then. That believe it or not was about the only time other then on a web search where I grabbed screen capture simply to show what they looked like.

The one thing that helps a lot with that particular set is the low profile on the speakers to fit into a tight spot. I have other equipment as well as the printer generally packed in even while the mid tower is in a cabinet portion of the desk.

I did come across a refurbished set for $69.99 while I only paid $60- new at the show. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...p_0/104-6253157-6879117?ie=UTF8&condition=all

It figures EBay would see a set there. $20- used. http://cgi.ebay.com/5-1-analog-Logi...oryZ3702QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
