Two sound cards

I'd like to be able to have two computers share one set of speakers.
Is it possible to have the line out from one computer's sound card go into the line in of the other computer's sound card, then have that sound card's line out go to the speaker?

Is there another way to do it, maybe a splitter to the line out's feeding into the speaker?

Thanks!

Do you plan to have both pc's on at the same time? If so then in theory you could do it the way you suggested.

Otherwise, and probably a better sound quality solution, would be getting a combiner y-adapter, which would combine the two signals. They're usually only about 6" in length, so you'll obviously need extension audio cables as well.

some speakers, typically the more expensive ones, will have multiple inputs, like my megaworks 6.1's have the three inputs for the 6.1 but then an auxiliary one for a single one

i hav sony srs d313 speakers and it has two inputs. there is a knob to change the input from 1 to 2 and u can actually mx the input as well...
