Currently I am at a point where i need to expand, the only way is to get a router and a long cable to the other side of the house.

I am Gonna connect the two routers(yes i need 2 no and if or buts.) LAN ports(is there another way??) and after much googling i cant figure out if i should use a crossover cable or not.

Both have 4 LAN ports and 1 WAN Port of which one will be used with my VZ DSL.

if you dont mind me asking why do you need more ports. And, have you considered useing wireless LAN cards to put in PCI slosts.

I have but i need to move the wireless router out of the current room, because of interfernce but still need a router(wired) in here because thats where my parents and the DSL "Black Box" is. Besides the Fact I can not for the life of me get my wireless card to work with linux but my Wired Nic card works fine.

I have just installed Linux on my laptop and have a wireless notebook adapter that works fine with windows, but I can't get it to work with linux. Just last night I found instructions on the net to get my linksys wireless adapter to work. Once you get the driver it is not all that easy to install. Like 3 pages of instructions. I haven't tried it yet but I have the driver thats to google finding it. Check out the manufacter site for a linux driver for your board. If you can't find one then start up google and I am sure you will come up with an answer. Good Lucl!!!

I know ive done that....however that is not the point. I Need to get rid of My wireless router and replace it with a Wired(Has absoululy nothing to do with my linux computer). So i figured i might as well buy a long cable and run it there because i have nothing to do with the wireless Router,i want Internet on my Linux box, and i still need wireless for my laptop.

The Point Is that i Need to Connect the 2 routers together on their LAN ports Do i use a Crossover Cable?
