Okay total n00b here and also my 1st post. Seems like I cannot get a straight answer from anyone. I'll repost what I posted on another forum.

My roomate called and asked for my password to my pc because he had to reboot it. I asked why and he said he setup a network group so he can browse though my music from his pc and I could do the same on his. After thinking about it, I don't like the fact he has access on my pc from his. Question is how do I disable it so he does not have access on my pc from his?
Thanks

Are you running windows xp? Does he use your computer to connect to the internet? What you could do is change your password so he doesnt know it, then set up a folder with your music in and have that as a shared folder so he can access it, but no other files

I do have XP and he does not need to use my pc to get on the internet. I usually change my password to login once a week just to do it. At first I was going to set it up where he can only access the folder that I store my music files but everyone is saying it would be to complicated, it's more then just right click and share the folder. So I was going to disable it completely. Does he have to enter my password I use to login to windows to access my pc from his?

Is this a wired or wireless network? It shouldnt be hard to stop your roommate accesing more then 1 folder. This tells you how to set it up so that only 1 folder is accessible. If your room mate tries to access other folders, it will come up as "access is denied" error box. The othe thing to do is to cut the connection between the 2 computers

It's wire. And what do you mean my cut the connection? And not sure if this matters but his pc is hooked to the cable modem/router and I'm linked to the router. I can ask him how he did it and to disable it, but I wanted to find out how to disable it completely from my end.
