Two Monitors and Two tasks with one pc

I'm pretty sure that I can't do this but I just want to make sure. Is there anyway I can hook up 2 monitors on one pc and show different things on each monitor?

Example: Monitor 1 is surfing the web and monitor 2 is working on home work? there is 2 keyboards and 2 mice going as well and all this is being done off of one pc.

I'm pretty sure that would be a no with Windows. I am aware that Linux can do something like that though.

You can just use extended desktop. You will have to drag things across from your primary monitor. You will only have one keyboard and mouse. Thats the simple, low tech option, which is ideal if you are researching on the web whilst writing etc...

Hope that helps, Doug.

look for a proggy called Ultramon. you can have two diffirent desktops. you can use wallpaper that supports duel and triple monitors. works well. im using a free ver. check google. i know it works with xp and pro. (maybe others).

Would you guys read what he's asking...
He doesn't want just dual monitors, he is wanting simultaneous use of one PC.

Right, sorry if I did not explain it properly. What I want to do is perform completely different tasks from one pc by using 2 monitors 2 keyboards and 2 mice. For example doing a baseball draft on monitor A while someone else surfs the web on Monitor B all off of one pc

Sorry - got the wrong end of the stick. I have never heard of anything like that before. Sounds complicated! I'm guessing that you would need a programme that allows you to plug in a mouse and keyboard without Windows picking up on it as otherwise it will get confused - like a USB mouse and touchpad on a laptop.

Ubuntu has 2 desktops (or more), which you can flick between on one monitor. I don't know how that would expand onto two screens. Then you got the problem with keyboard and mouse. There may be an application someone has developed as gamerman pointed out. But it is definitely two separate desktops as opposed to extending like XP. You can always download a live CD and have a play about without affecting your computer. Hope that helps, Doug.

Ok.....i jumped again. the concept is interesting though. and really the question is not out of line. my question is with all the fast computers today then why cant this be done. you would think with the technology, usb keyboard and mice + the duel monitors this could be done. i have duel 24 monitors. my grand daugher comes over. wants to play a game. why is this complicated and cant be done. likely and mostly no demand for it.

interesting though.
