Turning off a Windows Vista Feature

I really hate how windows vista has to confirm SEVERAL times whether I want to do a task or not even when it comes to something as simple as renaming. Why can't I just rename a file without being hassled by vista? Is there a way to turn that god awful feature off!?

That would be the new User Account Control security feature that acts just like a firewall. Fortunately Microsoft left an on/off option in the Control Panel>user accounts! Once in the user account screen go to the bottom link just for that. A new screen will appear where you simply uncheck the box seen there and click the ok button to exit.

You may be prompted to restart the system since it usually requires a reboot to see that put into effect. Don't you just love annoyances like that! The screen capture here shows how the two screens will look since I opened them twice to show them here.

UAC is a great security measure, it's a shame the way Microsoft implemented it. After a few days of use (if not hours or minutes), users will either disable it or just click "Allow" without reading what it says.

Again, to remove it simply go to the User Accounts page under the Control Panel and un-check the UAC feature.

Also, after you disable UAC, you will have to disable pop-up warning messages as well, because Vista will bug you if it notices UAC is off.

The initial popups will. To simply get around the need for it in the first place paying attention to what it is prompting about and seeing a few alternate protections installed will eliminate the need for it.

A good freeware like Comodo or Jetico for a firewall is an improvement over the Windows firewall while another free spyware remover Spyware Terminator prompts even when going to uninstall any program as well as seeing a new one go on. That serves a dual purpose without seeing half as many prompts to allow or deny.
