Turn the computer off

Do you usually turn the computer off?
Is there a problem if I don't turn it off, for days?

There are cases I don't turn it off for a week...., or other times I'll turn it off every days ...

What about you?

i always turn mine off now (only changed from a 24/7 plan recently) unless, like said in the above post link, i am downloading a massive file or doing something important.

i would turn it off before for years. On in the morning and off at night.
I leave it on mostly now at least for the reason i assigned sleep mode.
Still like to boot though. Nothing else just to start over and free memory for what ever i was doing.

I use to leave it on all the time back when I had my E6300 w/ 9600GT because it took forever to bootup due to the Windows XP OS taking forever to let you see the WELCOME SCREEN that no one cares about. But with my new build and Win 7, I can care less for 30 seconds for a bootup.

Hibernate-A power management mode that conserves power by powering down the system. In hibernate mode the current state of the system is saved to the hard drive, and the system will power down. When a user turns the system power back on, the saved information is read from the hard disk, restoring the last used settings. Hibernate mode is similar to sleep mode, however in sleep mode the power cannot be shut off.

Sleepmode-An energy-saving mode of operation in which all unnecessary components are shut down. Many battery-operated devices, such as notebook computers, support a sleep mode. When a notebook computer goes into sleep mode, it shuts down the display screen and disk drive. Once awakened, the computer returns to its former operating status.

I turn mine off in summer, but during winter it makes a good heater. i still like to turn it off though, somehow it just seems better, for the computer and for yourself. (not good to have heaps of electronics switched on it your bedroom. best to unplug htem :))

I turn mine off whenever im not using it,just a waste of power and of course pumping up those bills.

I do leave it on if im downloading something big though...but select the option to turn off the machine when the downloads complete.

Startup is quick anyway when you switch it on so,especialy with windows 7 so....

I usually turn mine off at night so I can sleep because te fans are too bright. Otherwise, I leave my laptop and desktop on for almost 19 hours a day.

I always turn it off - don't trust anything when I'm not in the house. And letting it load while I make a coffee isn't the hardest thing in the world - plus a full hardware reset can't be bad for the speed of the thing
