Turn it off during a thunderstorm?

Definately so. Or if you really want to be safe, unplug power strip or surge protector at the wall.

Serious or power loss. Not just a computer either.
If they did loose power and fridge, tv could be a nightmare.
Dont loose much. All mine is underground. Even a planned shut down have
set up where i get a call. Write down the time of loss, and date.
Document it. Freezer full of food they payed me.
Ive always unplugged or kicked a breaker with appliance during power
back in. A surge could be and would be a nightmare. Highvoltage is another.
Have a reactor in the backyard though. this lags the current on the primary.
Yes......thats good.

I don't because ALL my devices are connected to UPS which has a great surge protection.

For example if I am doing something important,I will not stop doing it if all of a sudden the weather gets fu*ked up lol. That is why I use that UPS with surge protection which also has a great battery so I never lose anything if the power goes off.

I don't have a UPS but I typically don't turn anything off during a thunderstorm. Haven't been burned yet :P

Here in Calif we don't seem to have thunderstorms as frequently or as intense as other parts of the world so I don't unplug or turn anything off during storms and have never had an issue not do I know anyone that has. I don't use UPS or surge protector either.

So what I am saying is that it depends on where you're at. If you have frequent, intense storms then it would be in your best interest to protect your equipment.
