Troubles adding laptop to wireless network

I have a belkin wireless router hooked up through my desktop. My desktop can see and access my laptop but not the other way around. the laptop can see my desktop but it cannot access it. i get the \\computername is not accessable. you might not have permission to access this resource. or something like that. i dont have any third party firewalls installed. i have disabled ICF on both computers. still nothing. any suggestions please.
 
Are you sure you've shared anything on the desktop computer? And they are members of the same workgroup?

Also, try //IP instead of //COMPUTERNAME.

If this doesn't solve your problem, I'm quite sure there is a firewall somewhere.
 
yes i shared two different folders, and yes they are in the same workgroup. i figure a firewall too, but the only one i have is the windows firewall, and i disabled that.
