so ive been triing to creat a password to get into my wireless network. i have the WRT54G broadband router and two desktop pcs wired to it. and i have my notebook for wireless and everything works fine with it, accept i want to have a password for my connection because i live in a condo and i no somone is using my connection. my router wireless name is just linksys. when i create a password for this it just creates a whole different linksys wireless connection with a password. the problem is that the old one still exists. so it shows that i have like to networks i can connect too. one with a password and one without. but they both are using the same router. how do i get rid of the linksys connection without the password so that i only have one, that is password protected.
Sorry i know thats confusing. Im just getting frustrated because i cant figure it out. Thanks for any help.

you are talking about using a WEP or WPA key, right?

if you are referring to different connections in the wireless connection config area on the computer itself, simply delete the non secure connection.

if you set the key in the router, then it will never connect with the non secure profile anyway. and i would recommend changing the ssid, and also make it not broadcast your ssid, and maybe even do some mac filtering to go along with your encryption.
