Tritton AX51 slight sound distortion and static problem

I have received a brand new pair of Tritton AX51 headphones, and they sound excellent. However, in normal use, I notice a slight distortion after certain sounds. Also, some sounds are accompanied by static.

I have tried to isolate the problem, but it has proved difficult. Using the driver software for my built in Realtek audio, i have found sound distortion when i clicked on the icons representing the front left and back left speakers. The sound plays fine, but I hear an odd, soft digital-sounding "Eeeeew" immediately after the test sound plays.

I have noticed static when testing 3D sound for the headset. the static is most prominent, when i drag the ball representing the source of the sound to the left hand side of the figure.

I have also noticed that turning down the volume for "center" sound seems to help this problem.

My question is this: what is the most likely cause of this problem, and how can it most easily be remedied?

do they do it when plugged into another source e.g. ipod.

do you have the same problems with other headphones?

No, only with these headphones. However, these are the first 5.1 surround sound headphones I have had. I am beginning to believe that the problem lies in my integrated sound card. After all, if the problem was in the headphones themselves, I would believe there would be much more distortion and static. I mean what sense would it make for something to be half-broken?

Well, if other headphones work fine on your PC and these ones dont, it would suggest that these headphones are the reason for distortion?
Maybe plug some speakers into your Soundcard and see whether they distorte or not?
Try plugging the headphones into another PC see what happens?

hey! I just bought the same headset, and I also hear some static, and if I turn the center volume to 0 it dissapears, so there's something wrong with the center speaker(s) or something with my soundcard?
Have you found a solution yet blackbelt?

** EDIT **

bought me a new soundcard and it works perfectly on those, no distortion or static!
