Transferring files from one PC to another

Hello,

I have just got a new computer and so want to transfer my files over. I have a cable me and my brother used to play games against each other with, so I assume this will be fine for transferring data.

There are two plugs on either side, I assume for plugging in to whichever connection you think is best, or have available to you. One plugs into the IOIO (this is the serial port right?) connection, so I hooked them up. Tried setting up a network connection (Windows XP) with no luck.

I'm certain i'm going about it all the wrong way, so what should i be doing? Thanks!

Have you tried using the Files and Settings transfer wizard in windows yet? It's located under accessories-> system tools-> and you'll find it there. You'll be able use this serial port to transfer your stuff

yep...found it about 5 minutes after posting! It aint half slow though...its going to take over 128 hours to transfer the files...granted its probably about 4gb but bloody hell I'll be waiting for a good long while.

you could transfer some files by using aim or msn or even FTP stuff. another way is: just know what programs you got and download the installations of them like.. let's say you wanna transfer this prog called winamp. just download another copy from winamp. for the programs that you coudn't find online, go to C, then programs. then add the folder( the folder of your program) into a Rar and transfer it to your new computer. then extracts it. it works LOL for the registry, i already said, just backup your registry...
