computer to computer via a crossover cable or if you have a hub you can set up a "home or small office network" from the network setup wizard in My Network Places

when i try to create a network it tells me to save it only a floppy. but i dont have a floppy drive on two of my computers

how do i do the file/folder sharing?
 
Here's a more robust solution thats scalable and better handles resumes (as well as security)
1. Grab Serv-U which is a free FTP server program (u can click the bypass link at the bottom and not have to go through them silly textboxes)

2. Install the FTP seerver and setup a basic domain + account

3. Now people on your subnet can access that ftp by ftp://username:password@yourIP:port
