I will be, I have a simple soundblaster in my one desktop and my other computer has an integrated sound card and there is a HUGE difference with the same speakers! I tested it :)

i dont know i cant ever tell the differnce between mobo sound and a card

the only reason i would ever buy a card is because my mobo sound went out

or the settings on the 2 computers could be different, like the treble bass mid etc etc. A couple of years ago sound cards would help take some strain off the whole system but now its not even really a problem at all.

So you challenge my soundblaster to a dual?

duel you mean? and no im just sayin it should sound exactly the same unless your computer is from the early 90's or somethings wrong with it

NOT at all, my one computer is from 2005 soundblaster and the other one is from 2007 integerated sound I don't mind the integrated sound but when compared with the same speakers there is a HUGE difference in quality.

good sound in in the ear of the beholder.
look for high s/n ratio.
subjectively the sound-card cost would not justify the price @ $30+

the comparison is fluff since there are too many variables.
features/'modes' on SC's are not 'SQ' they're gimmicks.

really depends on what motherboard you have. I have had 2 gigabyte boards and the onboard audio absolutely sucks compared to my x-fi.

If you prefer listening to music than gaming, then you might want to try ONKYO soundcards. It have several model, but I used SE-200 PCI LTD. This soundcard has 115db SNR which is very good and quite rare on the market.

But once again, this soundcard was actually made for music listening, as for gaming it might be far below X-Fi or the Xonar

Ya obviously there are exceptions, theres exceptions to everything, all i'm saying is that newer "decent" motherboards have been extra soundcards usless in most cases. Like the board i'm getting has built in 7.1 SS so i doubt i will be gettin another sound card, although i do do a bit of recording from my amp to the computer which creates some whining but this could be a number of things. It could be from general feedback from within the amp because of my guitar, crappy components that are in my comp right now, or that i have a TV, 3 75W lamps, my 600 watt halfstack, computer and a bunch of other random things all running on 2 outlets which can't be safe but, its all i can do for right now
